‘I’m Incorruptible’ – Akufo-Addo tells Critics
President Akufo-Addo has been accused several times by both majority and some session of the general public of political of being corrupt, this has pushed Akufo-Addo to respond to such critics in the media space.
Speaking at the annual Internal Audit Conference in Accra on Wednesday, 1 August 2018, Mr Akufo-Addo said the “stringent and desperate efforts being made by my political opponents to tarnish me and my family with corruption will simply not wash”.
“I am aware that you give a dog a bad name in order to hang it, but this dog will not be hanged”, the president said to his critics.
“I did not come to public life to make money out of public service, and members of my family know fully well they have to behave and are not involved in anything untoward,” he added.
According to President Akufo-Addo, he is not a corrupt leader and his family members are not engaged in corrupt acts as well.
President Akufo-Addo’s comments come barely 24hours after the Minority in Parliament accused him of conniving with his ministers to rob Ghana of its scarce resources after approving the renegotiated AMERI deal by an Executive Order.
