I’m Still Contesting Wontumi – Asare Bediako
“I am still in the race and I am winning. I am not surprised that my opponents have started spreading false information that I have stepped down. Step down for who? No way! I am the next Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman”, a confident-sounding Asare Bediako told THE PUBLISHER.
Mr. Asare Bediako is favourite for the Ashanti Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) chairmanship position and has expressed strong confidence he would emerge as winner.
He has therefore vehemently debunked hoax reports, making rounds in Kumasi and other parts in the Ashanti region that he (Asare Bediako) had quit from the chairmanship race, slated for April, this year.
According to him, credible reports from the various 47 constituencies in the Ashanti region, suggests that he (Asare Bediako) is the favourite to emerge as the next NPP Ashanti regional chairman.
In this regard, he has stated categorically that there is no way that he would opt out from a contest, which he is clearly winning, stressing that the false report is being secretly manufactured by his opponents.
“I am still in the Ashanti Regional NPP chairmanship race therefore wild reports that I have stopped contesting for the seat are total false, so my teeming supporters in the party should disregard them.
“Go and check from all the 47 constituencies in the Ashanti region and you see that I am miles ahead of my opponent, with regards to winning the election therefore I cannot quit from the party race”, he noted.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with THE PUBLISHER, Mr. Asare Bediako, who once served faithfully as Asokwa chairman of the NPP for 24-years, stated that fear had gripped his opponents so they have resorted to lies.
“They should tell you what strategies and policies that they will introduce to help the NPP to increase its votes in the Ashanti region so as to make election 2020 a done deal for the party and President Akufo-Addo, if they have any.
“Their decision to resort to blatant lies just to frustrate my campaign would not work because I am an experienced politician, therefore I can never be frustrated or intimidated by their ‘dirty’ politics”, he stated confidently.
Mr. Asare Bediako, who is widely seen as the father of the NPP in the Ashanti region, said he is contesting for the top position to introduce new ideas and policies that would help make the NPP vibrant in the region.
He said, when voted as chairman, he would ensure that the party’s regional secretary would be made the face of the party, who would work full time, saying that the NPP is big so it should be managed professionally.
Mr. Asare Bediako, who had continually contributed his resources and time to help develop the NPP since the formation of the party, stated that he would empower the first and second vice chairmen to be useful for the party.
He stated that his positive policies and programmes, would go a long way to make the NPP more attractive and vibrant so that their ambition to retain political power in 2020 would be fulfilled.
