Independence Day Celebration Needless ─ John Dumelo
President Akufo-Addo yesterday delivered a powerful Independence Day speech touching on a wide range of issues.
One of the most important issues he touched on was his Ghana Beyond Aid agenda.
He said: “It is time to pursue a path to prosperity and self-respect for our nation. A Ghana Beyond Aid is a prosperous and self-confident Ghana that is in charge of its economic destiny.
However, not everyone was impressed with his Ghana beyond aid agenda which he has been taunting for some time now.
One of such persons is versatile Ghanaian actor and National Democratic Congress sympathiser, John Dumelo.
Hours after the President’s speech, he took to Twitter and stated that it’s needless for Ghanaian to celebrate the 61st Independence Day Anniversary.
According to him, there’s nothing to celebrate after 61 years of Independence owning to the numerous challenges confronting the country, especially in the area of basic social amenities.
He said: “On 2nd thoughts there’s nothing to celebrate. Pupils lie on their stomachs to study in Yikurugu, UER, teachers teach IT with no computers all over the country etc.”
The 61st Independence Day Celebration was under theme “Ghana Beyond Aid”
Amongst those who graced the event are Nigerians President Buhari, who was the special guest to the event, Vice President Bawumia and wife Samira, Ex-president Kuffuor, Ex-president Jerry John Rawlings and wife Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, former Vice president Amissah Arthur, and many others.
