INJURED ACTOR Kwadwo Nkansah aka ‘Lilwin’ displayed mental toughness as he left his hospital bed to attend the premiering of his latest movie ‘A Country Called Ghana’ in Kumasi on Saturday evening.
Earlier in the morning, the popular actor’s Mercedes Benz vehicle had clashed head on with a Hyundai Santafe vehicle in a dangerous fashion right in front of the Grace Baptist Church at Amakom in Kumasi.
Lilwin, who was traveling with two other people at the time of the incident, reportedly suffered injuries on his face and legs. The other passengers also sustained injuries and they were all rushed to the hospital.
According to eyewitnesses reports, Lilwin’s vehicle, which is branded with ‘A country called Ghana’ stickers was from the Amakom Traffic Light direction and the Hyundai Santafe was also from the Asawase direction.
Some ardent supporters of Lilwin were said to have lined up on the streets and shouting the actor’s name in appreciation of his acting skills. Lilwin then moved the car away and it clashed with the Hyundai vehicle.
Eyewitnesses accounts indicated that Lilwin sustained injuries in his legs and his forehead and some people helped him out of his car, and rushed him to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for treatment.
The Ashanti Regional Police later on confirmed the accident in a statement and stated that no deaths were recorded in the head on collision despite the vehicles gotten damaged following the heavy impact.
Meanwhile, after the accident there were reports that Lilwin had been hospitalized so he would not make it to the premiering of his movie at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in the evening.
But the celebrated movie actor surprised everyone including even his colleague movie actors as he stormed the event venue later in the evening to make the premiering of ‘A Country Called Ghana’ grand.
Lilwin, who was almost in tears, responded to wild cheers when he was being welcomed to the CCB auditorium at the KNUST.
Meanwhile, the premiering of the movie was said to be successful.
