Interpol Arrested Chief’s Killer …Police Hints
Police in Kumasi have confirmed that Interpol (Burkina Faso and Ghana) played a key role in the successful arrest of Sadat Mohammed aka ‘Alhaji’, the prime suspect in the killing of Oheneba Kwadwo Aforduor, the Asamponghene of Otumfuo Osei Tutu I, the overlord of Asanteman.
In a release to the media, the Ashanti Regional Police Command disclosed that public support also contributed immensely in the arrest of the suspect in Ouagadougou.
The late Asamponghene’s lifeless body was on August 18, 2019, found in a black Landcruiser, which was parked in a bush on the outskirts of Ejura.
“Suspect Sadat Mohammed was arrested in Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso on Monday, September 16, 2019”, ASP Godwin Ahianyo, Ashanti regional Police PRO said.
He added: “He was arrested through the collaborative effort of the Ashanti and Upper East Regional Command, the Ghana Embassy in Burkina Faso and the Interpol Ghana and Burkina Faso”.
ASP Ahianyo further disclosed in the press release that Sadat Mohammed fled the country with his wife and children.
“Suspect had fled the country to Burkina Faso to settle with the family but luck eluded him and was arrested”, he said, adding that the suspect’s wife, the Queenmother of Pakyi No 1, and her children have since been evacuated from Ouagadougou to Kumasi to assist in investigations.
He saluted the public for feeding the police with vital information, which helped in apprehending the suspected killer.
