Invest in Agric – Dumelo to African Leaders
Ghanaian actor John Dumelo has described as “sad” the situation where some African countries still need food aid in the midst of plenty.
He has, therefore, charged African leaders to invest in agriculture to feed their people and make money out of it.
In a tweet to mark African Union (AU) Day, which was celebrated on Friday, 25 May 2018, the award-winning actor said: “It’s sad that some African countries still need food aid. On the occasion of AU Day, I charge African presidents to invest in agriculture. It’s a billion-dollar industry and that can save African economies. Let’s feed ourselves while making money out of it.”

Apart from acting, Mr Dumelo is also a farmer. He owns a three-acre cassava farm in the Manya Krobo community in the Eastern Region which he hopes to expand to 10 acres soon.
He believes if he turns out to be a successful farmer, it will serve as an inspiration for Ghanaian youth to get involved in farming.
