A security expert is worried about the lack of seriousness being attached to the alleged coup plot in the country.
Paul Boateng described as worrying the lack of seriousness being attached to government’s claim that it successfully foiled the coup plot after mounting surveillance on the suspects for 15 months.
“It doesn’t take a battalion to stage a coup; even a civilian can influence the military to topple a government so this must not be trivialised,” he said on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, yesterday.
Mr Boateng’s comment comes in the wake of doubts raised by some security experts who have said the government may be wrong in classifying the suspects as coup plotters.
They argued that, the weapons seized and the background of persons involved, make the claim the suspects were scheming to commit a treasonable offence untenable.
“It is sad we are making fan of coup plot because just one drone can destroy Ghana. We need to take such things serious,” Mr Boateng opined.
