Dismissed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), Adjenim Boateng Adjei says investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni produced shoddy investigative documentary about him.
To him, Manasseh’s work about his personality was sponsored by some people who didn’t like his way of work as PPA Boss and spearheaded an agenda to bring him down.
Mr. A.B Adjei who was speaking in an interview on Accra-based Net2TV said he has fed Manasseh on countless times but he allowed others to use him in bringing his work at the Procurement Authority into disrepute.
“In course of the process in which some bad people wanted some substantial informations against my personality, Manasseh whom I have said on countless times of he being my small boy came in the line. He’s one boy who normally comes to me for procurement knowledge anytime he’s doing his work. He’s one journalist I’ve feed before. Among journalists in this country, he had an easy access to me.
“Along the line, he sent me a message sometime in July congratulating me on an award I’ve won. He proceeded to interview me on the awards which 14 questions was set for me, at the end of the said interview, he chipped in the private company, Talent Discovery Limited matter and I must confess, it took me by surprise. Later I approached him about it, all he told me was that, it is beyond him. I then understood there were some persons behind to bring me down” he said.
Mr. Adjei was investigated by CHRAJ for conflict of interest after he was accused of sidestepping procurement processes for personal gains.
He was captured in an investigative piece put together by Manasseh Awuni Azure in 2019 titled, “Contract For Sale”.
President Akufo-Addo subsequently referred the corruption aspect of the case to the Office of the Special Prosecutor to probe and that of conflict of interest directed to CHRAJ.
Mr. Adjei who was earlier suspended in August 2019 was sacked by President Akufo-Addo on Friday, October 30, 2020, based on recommendations from CHRAJ.
