No Delay in January Salary – Govt
Minister of Information, Mustpaha Abdul-Hamid, has told the public to ignore a statement circulating on social media suggesting that there has been a delay in processing the January salary of public sector workers.
According to him, the statement is fake and should be discarded.
Addressing journalists in Accra on Monday, 22 January on a wide range of issues, Mr Abdul-Hamid said: “Over the weekend, there has been in circulation on WhatsApp, a release signed in the name of the Controller and Accountant General, Eugene Ofosuhene.
“The release, titled: ‘Delay in Processing January 2018 Salary’, alleges that payment of January 2018 salaries to public sector workers will be delayed. I wish to state that it is fake news and should be disregarded. The Controller and Accountant General has sent payment advice of public sector workers to their various banks last Friday 19th January 2018.”
Touching on the health condition of the Vice-President, Mr Abdul-Hamid said Dr Mahamudu Bawuma is doing very well and will return from the United Kingdom soon.
“You are aware that the Vice-President of the Republic, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is currently on medical leave in London. We wish to report that he is doing very well. The Chief Of Staff and other senior government officials have been talking to him. God willing, he will be back home shortly to resume his duties.”
