Following the announcement of Jane Mensa as the new electoral commission Chairman after the removal of madam Charlotte Osei and her two deputies from office, there has been many criticism from the opposition party National Democratic Congress, Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs has stated emphatically that,Madam JANE MENSA is an NPP member and the position does not fit her.
He cited his assertion on that, she holds NPP colors and for that, it makes her not right for the position, alluding that is a FACT which is clear to each individual in the country.
” I see the nomination of Jane as a provocation to tell the NDC to go to hell because there was no stakeholder consultation in the selecting of the Chairperson after the harmful removal of Madam Charlotte Osei. For the many public outrage on her nomination, I doubt of her success at the commission as compared to her former boss,, – he said on Kokrokoo morning Show.
According to him, the NPP keep stressing on the fact that the constitution gives the President mandate to elect a Chairperson for the Electoral Commission, but have forgotten the future outcome such decisions can generate.
According to Allotey Jacobs, the President could have met with leaders of the various political parties and labour unions to deliberate on his decision of removing and electing an EC boss, than how it has currently been handled.
NDC parliamentarians had also taken turns on Monday to criticise the nomination of Mrs Mensa to replace Mrs Charlotte Osei, who was removed from office for stated misbehaviour.
The party says it has “further and better particulars” to prove that Mrs Mensa is unfit for the job and would in due course present them to the public.
