Jeremy Doku Was Close to Joining Liverpool
Ghanaian prodigy Jeremy Doku reportedly twice came close to joining Liverpool, both in January and in the summer.
According to Sport/Foot, via Sport Witness, the 16-year-old had been watched by Jurgen Klopp and a transfer was all but done.
At the eleventh hour, however, Anderlecht owner Marc Coucke stepped in and prevented it from happening.
The report states that Coucke offered Doku an improved contract with the Belgian giants, especially by the club’s standards.
He persuaded the youngster to sign on the dotted line, which he accepted, despite if being half of what Liverpool were offering.
The three-year deal is believed to be earning Doku between €500,000 and €1million.
The forward has made five appearances for Belgium’s U17s, scoring three times.
He made his Anderlecht debut in a 4-2 defeat to Sint-Truidense V.V in the Belgian First Division A in November.
