JHS I Boy Hangs Himself

A FORM One Junior High School (JHS) pupil has been found hanging on a nylon sponge dead at Atwima Heman New Site near Kumasi.

The minor, whose name we would shelve for now. He is said to be just 13 years old and was reported to be happily playing with his friends in their house around 4:45pm on June 4, 2023.

The boy did not show any sign that suggested he was frustrated, but few hours later his body was found dangling on the sponge in an uncompleted building.

A Suntreso District Police sitrep, which the NEW PUBLISHER has seen, said the police are probing the case further to determine the exact cause of death.

According to a police report, some men were dispatched to the crime scene after an elder brother of the deceased lodged a complaint with the police.

“On 04/06/2023 at approximately 1645hrs Julius Bonna of Heman New site, reported to the Apire Police that his younger brother by the name Kelvin Acquah has hanged himself with a nylon sponge.

“Police proceeded to the scene and found the dead body of 13-year-old (NAME) hanging on a pillar on the first floor of an uncompleted storey building at Atwima Heman New Site.

“Investigation at the scene revealed a suspended body on a rope with the knots fixed to an iron rod supporting a pillar in an uncompleted storey building”.

The deceased did it leave behind any suicide note at the crime scene, which ideally would have helped the police in their investigations.

The report said the body has since been deposited in the morgue for autopsy, adding that investigations were still ongoing to find what indeed led to the boy’s demise.
