Ghana winger Joseph Paintsil’s fine start to life in the Major League Soccer (MLS) continues after the former KRC Genk player scored his debut goal.
Paintsil scored in Los Angeles Galaxy’s 3-1 win over San Jose Earthquakes in the California Derby popularly referred to as the Cali Clasico.
The 26 year old scored in the 18th minute and assisted Devan Joveljic’s goal in the 43rd minute before Riqui Puig rounded up the win with a finish in the 48th minute.
The assist is Paintsil’s first for Galaxy and it comes after the Black Stars player won a penalty kick for Galaxy in his debut game in the MLS. Galaxy drew 1-1 with Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami.
Reacting to the win on his X (formerly Twitter) page, Paintsil capped the performances against San Jose as the “perfect clasico”.
“Perfect CALI CLÁSICO evening. A goal, an assist & 3 points. God did” Painstil wrote after playing 69 minutes in the win.
Paintsil joined LA Galaxy after featuring at the 2023 AFCON for Ghana’s Black Stars.
