Jubilation in Kumasi as Road Projects Start
THERE WAS wild jubilation in Kumasi on Tuesday, following the commencement of road construction projects in the garden city.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP), led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, prior to the 2016 polls, promised to fix all damaged roads in the city. And true to his promise, the Asphalt Overlay of roads in the city commenced in the week, starting from the Manhyia South Constituency
Workers of Joshop Construction Ltd were seen seriously giving all major roads across the constituency a major facelift.
An elated Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi, beaming with smiles, was seen inspecting works at some of the project sites in the midst of his lieutenants from the KMA.
Speaking with THE PUBLISHER, the mayor expressed joy that President Akufo-Addo’s government had finally fulfilled its promise of fixing all the major roads in the city.
According to him, the NPP administration assumed political power at a time when Kumasi roads were in very deplorable state. He said he was confident that Joshob Construction Ltd. would fix Bantama roads and promised that other contractors would soon begin work on major roads in other constituencies in the city. He therefore urged residents to remain calm and support the government
Concluding, Ing Nana Poku Agyeman, Kumasi Roads Director, said construction works on the Kumasi ring-road would also be constructed in the coming days.
He said the works, when completed, would not only help beautify Kumasi but also make the movement of people easier.
In a related development, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, has also inspected works on the removal of roundabouts from Kumasi to Ejisu.
Four roundabouts on the Kumasi-Accra stretch, which had for many years become the source vehicular traffic in the city, are being removed.
