Judiciary Digitizes To Erode Corruption

The Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Sophia Akuffo has stated that the judiciary is digitizing its systems at the courts to fast-track the adjudication of cases brought before it by businesses.

According to her, the development is to reduce paper and face to face transactions which usually lead to corruption.

“These inefficiencies form a breeding ground for much of the delays and therefore bring about the corruption that one finds in the justice delivery chain,” she bemoaned.

She expressed excitement at the introduction of the digital address system which she believes will assist in eliminating corruption.

“Thus the introduction in recent days of a digital address system is very timely and welcoming as it will feed very well into the way forward in improving our methodology and particularly in speeding up more effectively, in the service of processes”.

The National Digital Property Addressing System is expected to make it easier to find locations in the country and boost service delivery.

Besides, the system is expected to among other things aid government policies, planning and offer accurate data for service delivery.

Addressing an audience at a program organized by the American Chamber of Commerce, Her Ladyship Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo said the law would be upheld to erase corruption to facilitate genuine businesses transactions.

“The effect of that which is happening rather blocks attention than the manual processes of finding documents and national inefficiencies in finding addresses so that litigants can be compelled to manually serve with a court document. Fortunately, this is the next level of reforms that we are moving into,” she assured.
