Juventus Show Interest in Wilshere
Serie A giants Juventus are eyeing a free move for in-form Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere in the summer, according to reports.
Wilshere, who has been one of Arsenal’s best performers recently after breaking back into the first team, is out of contract at the end of the season.
The Gunners have offered the England midfielder a new contract with a basic wage of £80,000 a week plus performance-related add-ons, which is a hefty pay cut on his current fee of around £100,000 a week.
But according to the Sun, Juventus are hoping that they can lure Wilshere to Italy in the summer transfer window.
A source said: ‘Jack interests Juventus and feelers have been put out. He is someone whose game would suit Serie A perfectly.’
However, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is confident that the 26-year-old will stay on at the Emirates past the summer.
Wenger recently said that Wilshere can become Arsenal’s next captain if he commits himself to the club.
Wilshere came through the ranks at Arsenal after joining the club as a schoolboy. He captained Arsenal as a starter for the first time in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final at Chelsea earlier this month.
Wenger said: ‘I see him here because he is an Arsenal man. He was here at the age of 10 and I believe as well he’s not only been here for a long time but he has some leadership qualities. He has a football brain. He is completely focused on Arsenal.
‘The fact that he has been away and come back… he realizes as well that life here is not so bad maybe! That is important. He can be one of the leaders in the future.
‘Who would question his love and commitment for the club? Nobody. We have to find an agreement that makes him happy.’
