KATH Holds Sports Festival
THIS YEAR’S annual Inter Directorate/Unit Sports Festival has been held at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi.
Held on Monday, which was a national holiday, KATH staff from the various directorates/units competed for supremacy in the various events.
The sporting disciplines included a football gala, volleyball, table tennis, sack race, draft and other games, which were heavily patronized.
Significantly, the various units/directorates at KATH were grouped into teams, who competed against each other in the one-day event.
The main event, which was the football gala, was won by Team C, which was made up of Emergency Medicine, Supply Chain and other units.
The winners, who overpowered all their opponents before clinching the ultimate, which was a golden trophy, played beautiful football throughout.
KATH CEO, Dr. Oheneba Owusu Danso, announced that there would be fierce competition in lesser known sporting disciplines like table tennis next year.
He said he was impressed about the output of the various football teams, especially Team C, who were a delight to watch during the event.
The KATH chief stated that annual games, among others things, is intended to help deepen unity, oneness and peace among KATH staff.
He also said the games have been made part of the hospital’s calendar so that personnel of KATH could take advantage of it to exercise their bodies.
