KATH Receives GH¢ 30,000.00 Hematology Analyzer
The Dialysis Unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), has received a hematology analyzer valued at GH¢ 30,000.00 to improve the quality of care.
It was a donation from the MoneyLink Money Transfer Company and meant to aid the unit to set up its own laboratory to provide quality laboratory services to patients receiving dialysis treatment at the unit.
Ms. Adwoa Odom, Country Representative of the Company- an indigenous Ghanaian business, told journalists that the gesture was in response to an appeal.
She added that it was eager to be associated with efforts at helping to save lives.
She said the company had been and would continue to be alive to its corporate social responsibility.
She spoke of financial and logistical support given to institutions providing care to needy people, over the years.
Ms. Odom, said she was confident that the machine would be of tremendous benefit to the sick.
Dr. Kojo Eyson, Head of the Dialysis Unit, said the establishment of a laboratory would enable them to monitor the quality of test results and reduce the cost and burden on patients.
He indicated that dialysis treatment was expensive and praised individuals and organizations, who had made varied contributions to the unit by way of the supply of equipment, consumables and logistics.
