KATH Targets GH₵120m as Seed Money for Endowment Fund
ALL ROADS in the Ashanti regional capital will today lead to the plush Golden Bean Hotel for the official launch of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) Endowment Fund.
The hospital is presently in critical need of modern equipment and infrastructure to help boost healthcare delivery, and has invited scores of the affluent in society for today’s fund-raising event.
Briefing the media, the CEO of KATH, Dr. Oheneba Danso, disclosed that his outfit is targeting GH¢120 million as seed money, over a five-year period, to boost its operations.
The KATH chieftain noted that the hospital currently lacked key amenities and infrastructure, adding that there is also the urgent need to replace ageing and obsolete equipment, hence the creation of the fund.
Dr. Danso said even though government is doing its best to support the health sector, the general public should also support the sector.
He said part of the GH¢120 million, when realized, would be used to buy new equipment for the wards, theater, intensive care unit and the accident and emergency units. Part of the amount, he noted, would also be used to expand infrastructure at the diabetic care center and other units.
The fund is not expected to cover the maternity and children block project, which was started over 40 years ago.
