President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed confidence in Ghana’s boxing icon, Isaac Dogboe, further encouraged him not to allow his defeat weigh him down.
Dogboe lost his world WBO Super Bantamweight title Saturday night in a fight with Mexican boxer Emanuel Navarette.
His loss was by a unanimous decision from judges by 115-113, 116-112 in favour of the Mexican boxer. The defeat comes in connection to Isaac Dogboe’s first loss in his boxing career.
In a tweet, Nana Akufo-Addo encouraged Dogbe to keep his head up.
“Better luck next time to the Royal Storm, Isaac Dogboe. I am confident you’ll bounce back even stronger. Keep your head up,” Mr Akufo-Addo tweeted.
Dogboe is still enjoying great support from Ghanaians despite the loss, although some Ghanaians have criticized his team for going into the fight barely four months after a tiresome fight with Japan’s Hidenori Otake to retain the WBO super bantamweight title in August 2018.
