Kejetia Terminal Project Nears Completion
THE KUMASI Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has made a giant stride towards the completion of the Kejetia Bus Terminal Project.
This was made possible, following the successful demolition of the Costa Pharmacy building, located right at the heart of the project site.
The one-storey building had delayed the project because it was located on a major drainage system. It was also stationed right in the road and the contractors needed it pulled down for work to progress. After several months of back and forth, the KMA, on Wednesday, managed to pull the building down.
This follows a Kumasi High Court’s decision to dismiss an injunction plea by Costa Pharmacy to halt the Kejetia project. Aside the court’s decision, the KMA, led by Osei Assibey Antwi, had made a partial compensation to Costa Pharmacy.
A parliamentary select committee and the Kumasi Traditional Council had all called for the demolishing of the building to enhance works at Kejetia.
With Wednesday’s demolition over, residents think the contractors can now speedup works to complete the much-needed terminal project.
