A 28-year-old woman carrying a nine-month pregnancy who was reported missing in Takoradi five days ago , was yesterday found near a church building in Axim but without the pregnancy and her child.
The woman, identified as Josephine Panyin Mensah, has not been able to speak a single word since she was found but she is able to write and has been crying since she was discovered.
The woman has been crying since she was found but has not been able to explain what exactly happened to her and the whereabouts of her child.
Reports say she asked for a piece of paper and wrote down the contact number of her brother who was then called and informed that the missing woman had been found.
She is also reported to have written briefly that she delivered the same day she went missing and that she was actually kidnapped.
Police has intensified investigations into the bizarre incident of both her suspected kidnap and how she was found.
When she was reported missing, her husband, Michael Simons, explained that had been living with her mother in Takoradi since she was expecting a child.
He said early dawn of Thursday September 16, the pregnant woman went on her daily morning walk as part of her exercise to keep fit but she never returned.
A local search team was first formed to look for her in the community and across all the health facilities in the area because the thinking was that she may have felt the pangs of child birth and gone to a hospital without informing anyone.
After the search team was unable to find her, a formal complaint was lodged with the police.
In the course of the day, the husband told local media that some strangers called his mother-in-law demanding a ransom so they release the heavily pregnant wife.
Takoradi has been in the news in recent times over kidnap related reports.
