King Of Igbos In Sempe Dansoman Celebrates 5 Years Of Ruler-ship And New Yam Festival

Five years ago saw the establishment of Obi Ihunanya Palace and subsequent enthroned of High Royal Highness Eze Samuel Ekezie as the Igbo King of Sempe Traditional Area with the mystical stool in display.

The Dansoman Kid Fit Park saw hundreds of dignitaries, chiefs, subjects of patrons and as well as other well wishers from far and near who consecrated where the Sempe King was celebrated for his ruler-ship achievements since 2013.

  

 

The Sempe King clad in a beautiful kente cloth and also adorned in gold ornaments, arrived at the venue at about 1330 hours amidst the blowing of traditional horns and “kete” and “fontomfrom” tunes.

As he sat in state a retinue of traditional rulers and other special guests, who were in their traditional dressing, took turns to greet and pay homage to him whiles others also presented gifts and drinks.

  

Over the past two months, a number of activities have been held as part of the anniversary, but what all have been waiting for was the hilarious activity last saturday which surely changed the temperature of the bustling city of Accra.

The event was under the theme ”PROMOTING PEACE AND UNITY THROUGH CULTURE” was as well in connection to NEW YAM Festival celebration.

   

”Since my existence, there has been a common platform that has brought many Igbos living IN Accra and its environs together to commune and dialogue on issues which has since enhance welfare and promote a peaceful co-existence between us and our host; the good people of Sempe land and Ghanaians at large which hitherto has never been” – he said at the occasion.

According to him, the occasion was very symbolic in the history books and urged the youth to be abreast of its significance. He said it promotes unity, social harmony and sense of belonging amongst the people.

 

Chieftaincy as we may know is one of the oldest institutions in Ghana and actually one of the few remaining cultural relics of the past. Dating back to somewhere in the fourteenth century, chieftaincy has become an embodiment of our existence as different groups of people who would later come together to form the nation Ghana.

Chiefs in the past and even today remain the nodes of connection between the central government and the ordinary people of the community and sometimes the larger group of people depending on the status of a particular chief. In other words, they are the mouthpiece of the ordinary citizens of a particular community

   

Eze Samuel Ekezie, King of Igbos In Sempe is also not left out in bringing development to his people and Ghana as a whole. Since his enstoolment in 2013, he has enroll on several developmental projects across the community and country as a whole for better development.

On his ending remark at the gathering, he urged all brothers and sisters present to perform in the upcoming election in Nigeria which according to him, would make better achievement on the constitutional obligation of every citizen.
