BUSINESS ACTIVITIES in Krofrom, a boisterous community in Kumasi, in the Ashanti Regional capital, will soon experience a massive boom.
This pleasant news has become possible as efforts are currently underway by the city authorities to find money to complete an abandoned market project in the area.
Dubbed the ‘Krofrom Market’, the construction works on the facility started during the tenure of former President John Kufuor but the project is still far from completion.
The Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Sam Pyne, has assured that his administration is in search of money in order to complete the market soon,
According to him, the assembly see the market as a viable business center, which would help boost business activities in the city so the need to get it completed.
“Currently, I am lobbying to get support from potential investors so that all markets that were started by the assembly, including the Krofrom Market, are completed.
“The completion of the Krofrom Market in particular, would ease the burden of traders and it can also help to reduce the pressure and congestion in the CBD”, the Mayor said.
Sam Pyne was speaking with the leadership of the 24 driver unions in Kumasi about possible ways to help reduce vehicular traffic and congestion in the city center.
According to him, the completion of the satellite markets in the city, especially the Krofrom Market, would go a long way to help reduce congestion in Kumasi and nearby areas.
Sam Pyne said until the Krofrom Market is finally completed, the commercial drivers operating in the city should also obey traffic rules to reduce the congestion rate.
