KMA Exposes Osei Assibey Critics
AN ATTEMPT by a group of traders calling itself ‘Concerned NPP Youth Traders Association’ to tarnish the image of Kumasi Mayor, Osei Assibey Antwi, has backfired in their face.
This follows the assembly’s decision to catalogue and explain the lies that the agitated group had labeled against the mayor, ostensibly to get him fired from office.
The KMA in a press statement signed by Mr. Godwin Okumah Nyame, said Osei Assibey is on top of his job as he is transforming the city with innovative policies, and consequently asked the critiques to bow their heads in shame.
Describing Assibey as a focused leader, the statement said no amount of propaganda and lies by his detractors would make him lose focus in developing Kumasi.
Lies Against Mayor
The aggrieved group had called for the immediate removal of the Mayor from office, accusing him of not making efforts to properly accommodate the traders that were affected by the ongoing relocation exercise.
According to the group, the KMA, notably, Osei Assibey, is only seeking to destroy businesses in the metropolis with its decision to embark on the relocation of traders.
KMA Exposes Mayor’s Critics
But the KMA, in a quick response, stated that there is no iota of truth in the allegations.
Okumah Nyame said KMA had wasted a lot of resources to get the Race Course Terminal in the right shape so that all the affected traders could transact their business there without any problems.
According to him, the assembly had also taken steps to refurbish all the satellite markets in the city, just to accommodate the affected traders, who were relocated from the streets and pavements.
He said there is no justification for the group to accuse the mayor, who had refurbished all the satellite markets in the city, as someone who wanted to destroy their businesses.
Nyame insisted that KMA would continue with the relocation exercise until the city recovered its lost image.
