KMA PM pledges support for Sam Pyne
NEWLY ELECTED Presiding Member (PM) of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Patrick Kwame Frimpong, says the transformation of Kumasi remains his major objective.
In this regard, he has pledged his selfless support for current Chief Executive of the KMA, Sam Pyne, so that he could implement his vision to help accelerate the development of Kumasi.
Kwame Frimpong, who was beaming with broad smiles, gave the assurance during his acceptance speech after he had polled a whopping 53 Yes votes as against just 3 No votes to become the KMA PM.
Before the Yes or No confirmation vote, Patrick Frimpong had secured 40 votes, which fell short of just four votes to be declared as the KMA PM, as his only competitor, Stephen Ofori, polled 16 votes.
The Electoral Commission (EC) officials were therefore preparing to organize another polls for the two combatants when Ofori, who was the incumbent KMA PM, announced that he had stepped down.
Continuing with his speech, Kwame Frimpong, who is also the Krofrom East Electoral Area Assemblyman, also assured that he was prepared to work with all stakeholders to help accelerate Kumasi’s growth.
The KMA PM therefore appealed passionately to the KMA assemblymen and the entire residents of Kumasi to give him and the Kumasi Mayor the needed support to deliver to help benefit the city.
Sam Pyne, on his part, congratulated the newly-elected KMA PM and appealed to the assemblymen to give him (Kwame Frimpong) the needed support and encouragement to deliver.
