THE KUMASI Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has sternly cautioned residents against the stealing of dustbins strategically placed all over the city.
According to the Assembly, anyone that would be found stealing its dustbins would be arraigned and jailed to serve as deterrent to others.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the KMA, Mr. Godwin Okumah Nyame, issued the warning during an interview with THE PUBLISHER.
“If you don’t want to go to jail then don’t try to steal the KMAs beautiful dustbins. Anyone that will try to steal them will be jailed by the court”, he said.
It would be recalled that a man who stole ten dustbins belonging to the KMA was recently jailed two years by the court.
The KMA, led by Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi, has strategically positioned the dustbins at vantage points in the city to help battle filth, as part of the ‘Operation Keep the City Clean and Green’ project.
The PRO also implored residents of Kumasi to help the KMA to realize its ambition of making Kumasi a clean city,
According to him, Kumasi can be the cleanest city in the country, if residents start to play their individual and collective roles.
