FORMER ASHANTI Regional Police Commander, COP Kofi Boakye, was among the mourners that bid farewell to the late Sergeant Owusu Asante Baafi and his family.
The 35 years old policeman, his wife, Millicent Akyaa Agyei and their four months old child, were gutted to death during a fire outbreak in their Apromase home two weeks ago.
The mortal remains of the trio were interred at the Adomfe cemetery in the Asante Akyem South Municipality of the Ashanti Region, their hometown, on Saturday.
People from all walks of life, including top police officers such as COP Christian Tetteh Yohunu, the Director-General Administration, Ghana Police Service, was there.
Other top dignitaries including the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah and other top police officers from the Ashanti Region and beyond were also at the cemetery.
As expected, the solemn occasion was mostly characterized by wailing and mourning as scores of mourners, openly cried bitterly for the three departed souls.
As a reminder, the late Sergeant Owusu Asante Baafi, how wide and four months baby, were fast asleep when a fire started in their room in a police apartment at Apromase near Kumasi.
Other inhabitants of the house managed to fled from harm’s way but Sergeant Baafi and his family got trapped and burnt to death. The cause of the inferno is still under investigation.
