Ghana celebrated its 67th Independence Day on Wednesday in Koforidua, Eastern Region, with the presence of Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara alongside Ghanaian President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Speaker of Parliament, and various diplomats.
The theme for this year’s celebration was “Our Democracy Our Pride,” and it was held at the newly inaugurated 5,000-seater Koforidua Youth Resource Center.
In addition to the main event in Koforidua, there were also commemorations in selected municipalities in Accra, including a march in the Korley Klottey Municipality, hosted at the prestigious Accra High School.
These celebrations were a symbol of national pride and unity, showcasing a vibrant atmosphere with a diverse lineup of participants. Nine Public and Private Basic Schools, as well as three prominent Senior High Schools in the Municipality, took part in the festivities.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of distinguished figures such as the Municipal Chief Executive, the MP for Korley Klottey, Dr. Zanetor Agyemang Rawlings, and the Regional Minister Designate, Titus Glover, along with many other respected dignitaries.
Currently, the parade inspection is underway, setting the stage for the delivery of inspiring Independence Day speeches by the esteemed guests.
Overall, the 67th Independence Day celebration in Ghana was marked by a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere, showcasing the nation’s rich cultural heritage and the achievements made in its democratic journey.
