Koforidua: Robbery Gang Renew Attacks on Residents

A gang of suspected armed robbers who have been hounding residents of New Juaben in the Eastern Region has renewed their attacks at Asomdwe Junction 4, near Okorase.

The four member gang  on Tuesday dawn invaded the community and attacked about three (3) homes within the short period .

The masked robbers succeeded in robbing their victims at gunpoint and absconded with items such as laptops, monies, mobile phones, foot wears, drinks,TV sets among other valuables.

Some of the victims were tied down, beaten and injured before the arrival of the Police Patrol team.

No arrest has been made.

In the  Okorase State Housing Bungalow No.25 attack, Ernest Donkor Attiklo, 34, and his wife Joana Opoku,28 said they detected that the robbers numbering four who had covered their mouths with a bandana and wielding a small black metallic pistol, cutlasses, knife etc. broke the main door with a cement block.  They then tied up Joana with a net sponge, held hostage  Donkor and made away the following items; 40 inches flat screen Akai TV, HP laptop, four mobile phones, 4 gig  pen drive, wedding ring of victim Ernest Donkor, and cash in the sum of GHC170.00.

The robbers also attacked victim Gifty Asante ,30, of same house by breaking her main door with a cement block and bolted away with Acer laptop, mobile phones and cash in the sum of GHC215.

The  four member gang of armed robbers moved to a house near Peace Hill School, broke the main door with a cement block and one of the robbers  entered room. Victims Patrick Bekoe , 56 and his wife Margaret Oti, 54, told Starr News’ Eastern Regional Correspondent Kojo Ansah that they raised an alarm by shouting which made their neighbors come to their rescue hence foiling the robbery attack.

The suspects at about 1:30 am then moved to a house opposite the Menalic Clinic in the same vicinity, covered the mouths of their victims with bandana and made away with an HP laptop, laptop bag,  two mobile phones including a Samsung S7, a desert boot, phone charger and some cash

RESIDENTS TRAUMATIZED, CALL FOR  MILITARY PROTECTION.

Residents at Okorase and New Juaben say they are traumatized and gripped with fear over recent surge in robbery cases. They are appealing to the President to deploy military personnel to protect them.
