Kojo Antwi disowns National Theatre
Iconic music star, Julius Kojo Antwi popularly known as Kojo Antwi has stated his displeasure and vowed never to step foot inside the National Theatre of Ghana and ever perform there to his fans.
The ‘Afafranto’ hitmaker believes the venue has lost track on its maintenance culture, in addition to the fact that it does not align with his artistic aspirations.
To him, the venue which was a perfect fit for his concert years ago, has fallen from the space of theatre description, among other factors which he says has become a trademark that does not belong to his current and future artistic nature.
The former Chairman of the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) made this known in an interview on Onua TV.
“The place has fallen short of a theatre…maintaining the place has become difficult for those who are handling the theatre… and me as an artist, I don’t belong to a hall…I realised that the place wasn’t helping me. But an artiste doesn’t belong to a hall… All the things I did there were about God”, Kojo Antwi stated.
