Konadu Yiadom Astro Turf Project Starts

BLAG GHANA Limited, experts in the construction of artificial pitches, have been given the green light to start developing the Konadu Yiadom M/A School’s grassless park into a modern astro turf facility.

This was after the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) Foundation, who are sponsoring the project, which is set to be completed in six months time, signalled BLAG Ghana Limited to commence work, Thursday.

His Royal Majesty, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s Lands Secretariat, headed by Oheneba Owusu Afriyie IV, Otumfuo Apagyahene, appealed to the GNPC Foundation to develop the grassless park into a modern facility.

The park would boast of modern amenities such as flood lights, artificial pitch and others, when completed by the contractors.
The project is geared towards improving sporting facilities in the Manhyia South Constituency.

At a short durbar on Thursday for the construction works to start, the Kokosohene, Nana Kwaku Duah, who represented Otumfuo, said the Asantehene deserves a lot of praises for his efforts in developing the park.

The Kokosohene also showered tons of praises on Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh aka ‘Napo’, the Manhyia South Member of Parliament (MP) for his invaluable roles that has made it possible for the park to be transformed.

Nana Kwaku Duah stated emphatically that the park would be developed into a full standard park, therefore he was expecting the entire residents of the Manhyia South Constituency to offer their support to the project.

Loubaabat Habib, Head of Environment and Social Amenities GNPC Foundation, said a full standard football pitch would be constructed in six months’ time, urging the constituents to offer maximum support to the contractor.

According to her, the Asantehene’s Lands Secretariat officially wrote to the GNPC Foundation to develop the park to beautify the area and also promote sporting activities “and we gladly accepted the proposal”.

The Konadu Yiadom M/A astro turf project, upon completion, would increase to three, the number of astro turf projects in the constituency. Napo has developed the Abbey’s Park and he is also constructing another one at Dichemso presently.
