Management of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital has denied asking patients to buy plastic chairs to enable doctors and nurses attend to them.
The Public Relations Officer of the hospital, Mustapha Salifu this morning explained to Kwasi Aboagye on Neat FM’s Ghana Montie, that it is the relatives of the patients who willingly decided to buy the chairs since there are no beds to accommodate.
This follows the Ministry of Health’s directive to hospitals not to turn away patients who arrive with emergency cases even if there are no beds to accommodate them.
He noted that the hospital is not enthused about the situation and as part of efforts to decongest the ward is sending information to other hospitals not to refer emergency cases there.
He disclosed that the hospital is working to bring the situation under control.
He however shared some of the measures put in place to resolve the situation for betterment.
