Kumasi Asante Kotoko has officially lodged a complaint to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) about refereeing decisions in its game against Accra Hearts of Oak according to a statement posted on the club’s Twitter page.
Kotoko drew 1-1 with Hearts in the Super Clash at the Baba Yara Stadium this past weekend in Week 3 of the betPawa Ghana Premier League.
Reacting to the fallout from the high profile game, Kotoko’s statement on Twitter read: “The club after a careful study of yesterday’s game footage has filed a Complaint with the GFA against the decisions of the officiating officials”
Though the game lacked a ton of consistent quality play from either side, it was filled with drama as a handful of close calls made by referee Bless Yao Selorm were debatable.
This caused a lot of consternation among Kotoko supporters who believe they deserved to have been awarded two penalties for fouls committed by Hearts defenders Dennis Korsah and Konadu Yiadom.
The matchup against Hearts of Oak was Kotoko’s debut league game in the 2022-2023 season due to the reigning league champions short lived participation in the CAF Champions League.
