Krif Ghana Condemns Attacks on Journalists
…As It Inaugurates Krif Media Partners
Executive Chairman of Krif Ghana Limited, Reverend Kennedy Okosun has condemned in the strongest terms, the brutal attack on journalists by some members of the public, while performing their journalistic assignments.
According to him, these unfortunate incidents are troubling to the mind and must be treated as a crime in whatever form they appear.
Speaking at a Press Soiree held in Accra, yesterday, Rev. Okosun said his company has chosen to distance itself from such brutalities and to continually appreciate the media for being a constant support to his business.
“Journalists are served slaps instead of being served water, they are served punches instead of being served refreshment and we want to distinguish ourselves from that…we want to distance ourselves from those types of things,” he said.
To further show their commitment and deepen their relationship with the media fraternity, Krif Ghana, for the first time in history, inaugurated the Krif Media Partners (KMP).
The group consisting 20 renowned media men and women would be led by a Dean―Mr. Robert Oduro of Corporate Guardian, who would act as a liaison between journalists and Krif.
This step according to Rev. Okosun is not to “influence journalists but simply to deepen the relationship they have with them.”
Media Training
Still placing immense value on their media partners, Krif Ghana hinted that the company is collaborating with the U.S. embassy to train journalists in investigative journalism.
The programme drawn by Krif Foundation―an arm of Krif Ghana Limited, would train journalists in various part of the country.
“We are doing something in recognition that journalists deserve a lot,” Rev. Okosun said.
At the soiree, some outstanding journalists were awarded for their unflinching support to Krif.
The awardees were; Grace Ablewor Sogbey, Publisher Newspaper and Wisdom Jonny Nuekpe of Goldstreet Business.
Free Diplomat Safe
Krif also announced its latest Corporate Social Responsibility project―which was to give out free Diplomat Safes to some government institutions in the country.
Every week for 52 weeks, Krif Ghana will give out a safe which cost between GH₵500 to GH₵65,000 to a lucky institution.
The size of the safe given according to Rev. Okosun would be dependent on the magnitude of work done by the institution.
