KTI Students Chase Housemaster With Stones
A housemaster at the Kumasi Technical Institute (KTI) was chased by stones-wielding angry students of the school on Sunday, destroying windows and vehicles in the process. His ‘crime’ was that he had consistently insisted that the students should wear approved inform for prep.
The students, who certainly didn’t feel comfortable with the orders, did not only display gross disrespect to him by refusing to wear the approved uniforms, but also pelted him with stones, forcing the beleaguered housemaster to flee.
According to police reports, the housemaster (name not disclosed) got injured after he was hit in the head by a stone. The police eventually issued a medical form to him for treatment at the nearest hospital.
After chasing out the housemaster, the charged students then embarked on a destroying spree, vandalizing air conditioners and other properties in the school. They also smashed the windscreen of some vehicles belonging to school officials. Reports say it took the intervention of the police to curb the riots.
ACP Kwaku Buah, the Manhyia Divisional Police Commander, informed the media that 10 rioting students were arrested.
He said the police would thoroughly interrogate the suspects and also investigate the case before deciding on their next line of action.
Sunday’s riots affected academic work on Monday.
