The management of Kubori Nurses and Midwifery Training College in the Mamprugu Moaduri District of the North East Region is appealing to the government, philanthropists, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to support the completion of a stalled girls’ hostel.
The move aims to improve the accommodation system, addressing congestion in the available hostels as the school admits its second batch of students for the 2024–2025 academic year.
Upon completion, the hostel will accommodate 400–500 female students, significantly enhancing the school’s infrastructure.
The project, initiated with donations from corporate bodies and community members, has stalled at the roofing level.
As the first tertiary institution in the Mamprugu Moaduri District, the school, commissioned in 2023, aims to bring health education to the local population.
In an interview with Asaase News, the acting Vice Principal, Wunangi Salifu, expressed concern about the stalled project, emphasizing the need for public support to complete the hostel for the next batch of students in the 2024–2025 academic year.
“The appeal for funds we get was what we used to start this project. NGOs and the surrounding communities came out with the resources and we started this project,” Salifu said.
“It has reached the roofing level, so we are appealing to corporate bodies to come to our aid so that we can use this facility for accommodation, especially, female students. So we are pleading and appealing to the general public who can come out and help us, so that we will be able to complete it,” he added.
The school is currently running three programmes: a diploma in public health nursing, diploma in midwifery and diploma in general nursing.
