Mohammed Kudus has been named the Footballer of the Year at the 2024 Ghana Football Awards, achieving this prestigious honor for the second year in a row.
The West Ham United midfielder outperformed competitors Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Osman Bukarai, and Inaki Williams to secure the award once more.
Kudus had an exceptional debut season with West Ham United, scoring 14 goals and providing six assists in 45 appearances.
His impressive performances were instrumental in leading the Hammers to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Europa League, where he scored five goals. Additionally, the 23-year-old has been a key player for the Black Stars, making a significant impact in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) held in Ivory Coast.
Despite the team’s early elimination, Kudus stood out by scoring twice during the tournament.
In recognition of his outstanding achievements, Kudus was not only awarded Footballer of the Year but also celebrated for his remarkable solo goal against Freiburg in the UEFA Europa League, earning him the Goal of the Year award.
The 2024 Ghana Football Awards also honored several other notable figures in Ghanaian football. Jennifer Kankam Yeboah of ZED FC in Egypt was named Women’s Footballer of the Year.
Nurudeen Amadu of FC Samartex received the Men’s Coach of the Year award, while Yussif Basigi, who coaches Hasaacas Ladies and the Black Princesses, was recognized as Women’s Coach of the Year.
The Odartey Lamptey Future Star Award was presented to Abdul Aziz Issah of Dreams FC, highlighting his promising potential. Kofi Baah of FC Samartex was named Goalkeeper of the Year, and Emmanuel Keyekeh, also of FC Samartex, was recognized as Home-based Footballer of the Year (Male).
Abdulai Mukarama from Hasaacas Ladies received the Home-based Footballer of the Year (Female) award.
Other distinguished awards included Best Ghanaian Club CEO, awarded to Richard Duah Nsenkyire of FC Samartex, and Male Team of the Year, which went to FC Samartex. Hasaacas Ladies were honored as Female Team of the Year.
Dreams FC was recognized as the Most Vibrant Club on social media. The Casfordians were acknowledged for their passionate support by being named Special Fan(s) of the Year.
Special awards were also given to The Black Challenge, with Gold Fields and MTN Ghana receiving the Thumbs Up Award for their contributions to Ghanaian football. The Living Legend Award honored Nanasam Brew Butler and Adjoa Bayor for their enduring impact on the sport.
The 2024 Ghana Football Awards celebrated the remarkable talents and contributions of Ghanaian footballers and coaches, both domestically and internationally, showcasing the impressive achievements and bright future of Ghanaian football.
