Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus has completed his move to West Ham United on a five-year contract, transferring from Ajax Amsterdam for a fee of 38 million pounds.
The transfer ends Kudus’ three year run with the Dutch giant after joining the team from Danish side FC Nordsjaelland. Kudus has four goals and an assist in three games for Ajax this season before joining West Ham.
During the 2022-2023 season, the 23-year-old had his most successful year as a professional, netting 18 goals and providing seven assists across 42 matches in various tournaments.
After signing James Ward-Prowse and Edson Alvarez, West Ham’s latest player addition shares a few ties with the London club aside being teammates with Alvarez at Ajax.
Kudus’s unique goal celebration involves crossing his forearms to create an “X” shape, which he uses to ward off negativity. Interestingly, this gesture also corresponds with West Ham’s nickname, “The Irons.”
Beyond this, Kudus has become the latest Black Stars personality with a link to West Ham after joining the reigning UEFA Europa Conference League champions.
Having surpassed Andre Ayew’s transfer fee, Mohammed Kudus aims to establish himself as the most impactful figure from the Black Stars team while playing for West Ham United.
