FORMER PRESIDENT John Agyekum Kufuor has asked Ghanaians to make a delebrate and concerted effort to ensure the impending elections is peaceful.
According to him, the country, since 1992, has decided to use democratic means to elect its leaders and that system should be protected.
Ex-President Kufuor stated that election should be a peaceful means to elect leaders to govern the country so the people should take note.
“Election is not war, in fact, it is a peaceful means of electing who should lead our country for the next four years so it should be peaceful.
“I am therefore appealing passionately to the citizenry to collectively play roles to help make the elections peaceful”, Mr. Kufuor said on radio.
The former president particularly admonished the energetic youth not to avail themselves to be used wrongly to cause violence in the country.
According to him, the youth are the future leaders of the country, therefore they (youth) should play roles to protect the peace of the state.
Mr. Kufuor, who has virtually become a preacher of peace, stressed the need for the citizenry to make sure that the peace in the state is intact.
“We should also respect the rules and regulations governing the elections so that the entire processes would be peaceful”, he advised.
Mr. Kufuor urged the various political parties to play important roles to make sure that the December 7 elections would be peaceful.
