BARRING ANY last minute hitch, construction works to upgrade the Kumasi Airport to international status will be completed in 16 months’ time.
This was disclosed by Mr. Emmanuel Danso, a Ghanaian Consultant working for the firm engaged by government to construct the airport.
“Latest by November 2020, we shall all see something different and spectacular here at the Kumasi Airport”, Mr. Danso, who sounded confident, stated.
This was when the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, and the Kumasi Mayor, Osei Assibey Antwi, as well as other officials had stormed the Kumasi Airport.
The unannounced visit on Tuesday afternoon, offered the regional minister and his team the opportunity to monitor the progress of work at the airport so far.
The delegation was taken through the various stages of construction works by the contractors to enable them appreciate what was going on there presently.
In his brief remarks, Osei Mensah expressed satisfaction with the progress and quality of work done so far.
“I am not a construction expert but what I have seen here today clearly is an indication that the contractors are doing a good work”, he indicated, and urged the contractors to sustain their good works and complete the project on time.
