Kumasi Auntie Bea Smells Victory
BEATRICE OWUSU, a leading contender in the Ashanti Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) Women Organizer race, has expressed her confidence in winning the polls with a landslide victory.
Describing herself as the obvious choice for the position, she said she was hopeful that the party’s delegates, who are the kingmakers, would vote massively for her to lead the party’s women wing.
Madam Owusu, aka ‘Auntie Bea’, was addressing the media moments after she had stormed the NPP Ashanti Regional Office on Wednesday to pick her nomination forms.
The popular party member was reportedly ‘ambushed’ by scores of female supporters from the various constituencies in the region, who accompanied her to the regional office, even though she wished everything been done on the quiet.
For about one hour, the regional office was virtually turned into a rally ground as party members sang victory party songs, amid the chanting of Auntie Bea’s name.
She said the members had recognized her splendid works over the years and was glad that they seemed ready to reward her to enable her continue with her good works.
Madam Owusu said when voted as women’s organizer she would implement new policies that would not only ensure that the women’s wing is properly recognized and given special roles to play, but also help boost the living conditions of NPP women in the region.
