Barely 24 hours, there has been two fire outbreaks at the Asafo Market in Kumasi destroying millions of Ghana cedis.
The first fire which occurred in the late hours of April 20 saw mainly the shoemakers arena and some part of the meat marketing shops close to the main entrance opposite the Asafo overhead bridge destroyed.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire started at shortly after 9pm.
The late Saturday night fire brought down at least 200 shops with other temporary warehouses.
An initial fire tender was not enough to douse the fire necessitating a reinforcement to completely put it out.
