Kumasi Mayor Bids Father Farewell
IT WAS an emotional scene yesterday, when the Kumasi Mayor, Osei Assibey Antwi, burst into uncontrollable tears as his late father, Opanin Akwasi Antwi Boasiako, was being buried.
A section of the mourners, including top politicians, that had besieged Ahenkro Kwaman, hometown of the mayor, could be seen fruitlessly trying to console Osei Assibey.
Opanin Akwasi Antwi Boasiako died at Sepase at a ripe age of 94 years, after a short illness.
His burial ceremony attracted scores of government officials, top businessmen, the clergy, traditional leaders, top security agents, media practitioners and staff of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA).
Among the people that graced the occasion were the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah and his deputy, Elizabeth Agyeman, some ministers of state and New Patriotic Party (NPP) gurus.
The Commissioner of Police (COP) Kofi Boakye, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Kwasi Mensah Duku and Urban Road Director of Kumasi, Ing Nana Poku Agyeman, were also there.
