Kumasi Mayor Praised at Manhyia
The Kumasi Traditional Council (KTC) has given thumbs up to Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi, the Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), for living up to the expectation of the council.
At a mammoth meeting of the KTC at the Manhyia Palace, the official seat of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on Thursday, the chiefs unanimously commended the Mayor and assured him of their unflinching support in his tenure of office.
Baffuor Owusu Amankwatia VI, the Bantamahene, who chaired the KTC meeting, stated that the chiefs were overwhelmed about Osei Assibey’s delivery so far.
He said even though the KTC knew Osei Assibey to be competent, visionary and a workaholic “he has overly impressed us so far”.
“We know that you have all the qualities to lead Kumasi into affluence and we are assuring you of our unalloyed support. You have started well so far and all your actions and plans clearly show that you can implement your policies and programmes to move Kumasi forward”, he said.
According to him, Assibey inherited a Kumasi, which was in total mess in terms of security lawlessness.
“But during your short stay in office we have realized that the city is gradually bouncing back and we urge you to sustain your splendid works for Kumasi”.
The Bantamahene charged Hon. Antwi not to kowtow to pressure from chiefs, politicians or anybody and rather be firm in the discharge of his duties. He finally entreated residents of Kumasi to rally behind the MCE.
