Kumasi: Police arrest 3 persons over Alabar daylight robbery

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has managed to arrest three persons suspected to be behind the alleged robbery incident that took place at the Alabar market today, Friday, October 20, 2020. 

The suspects include Hamza Nuhu, 22, who was shot in the thigh by police during the arrest. The rest are Salifu Iddrisu, 18 and Ali Razak also 18 who are said to be currently in Police custody to assist with investigation, while a manhunt has been launched for the arrest of the remaining suspects.

“They are on detention to assist in police investigations, whiles manhunt has been launched for the arrest of the remaining robbers,” the regional police command indicated in an interview with Citi News.

Meanwhile, Police say they are on a manhunt for four other suspects who are said to be part of the gang that stormed the market and took part in the robbery.

Background

The robbers numbering about seven on three different motorbikes were seen in a less than a one minute video firing at different directions during the robbery incident.

The first motorbike was seen carrying two pillion riders with one holding what is believed to be the money snatched from the businessman who had gone to withdraw the cash from the bank.

Both ends of the road were blocked as they brandish their guns to the shock of the traders some of whom were also seen fleeing for their lives and abandoning their wares in the process.
