Kumasi Shop Owners Given 2 Weeks to Move
SHOP OWNERS along the Ahensan to Lake Bosomtwe Road in Kumasi have been given two weeks to vacate the place, to give way for the construction of a Road.
According to Hon. Simon Osei Mensah,According, Ashanti Regional Minister, the road project had been given on contract and the presence of illegal structures there would impede construction works.
He made the announcement on Wednesday when he walked from Ahensan to Atonsu to interact with shop owners. The Minister disclosed that government would compensate owners whose structures were constructed at the place legally.
He noted that the construction of the road network would go a long way to enhance the movement of people and goods in the region.
He said the Ahensan to Kyirapatre portion of the road would be constructed by Urban Roads and the remaining would be a highway project.
The Ashanti Regional Minister said the road would largely be a dual carriage, adding that a bridge would also be constructed as part of the project.
The construction work is expected to last for two years.
