SOME NIGERIAN nationals, who trade in car spare parts at the Suame Magazine, are living in fear as reports say their Ghanaian counterparts are said to have threatened to attack them.
According to information reaching THE PUBLISHER, the Ghanaian spare parts dealers see the Nigerians traders as threat to their businesses.
Arguing that by the laws of Ghana foreigners don’t have any right to deal in retail business, the Ghanaian spare parts dealers bemoaned that their businesses were collapsing because they couldn’t compete with the Nigerians.
They said since the Nigerians were violating the laws of the state, they would take action if nobody came out to enforce the law.
The attacks reportedly started earlier this week when some people, believed to be Ghanaian spare parts dealers, forcibly locked stores of Nigerians in the city.
It was gathered that some of the Nigerians even had to rush to nearby police stations to request for protection.
Meanwhile, some Ghanaian spare parts dealers have condemned the reported attacks, stressing that foreigners don’t pose any threat to their businesses.
The paper learnt that the regional police command had invited the leaderships of the two factions to help restore peace among them.
