Traders in Kumasi are reported to be making brisk business, and the upcoming Christmas season has been mentioned as the reason for the positive trend.
According to reports monitored by The New Publisher, virtually all traders in the city are making good money from their sales in the last few days to Christmass.
Interestingly, shop owners and even hawkers, who ply their trade in the middle of busy roads thereby putting their lives in danger, are all benefiting from the bumper sales.
During The New Publisher’s visit to Adum, which is the center of Kumasi and where most of the shops in the city are located, the shop owners were making money.
Traders that deal in items such clothes, meat, food items, bags, and footwear, just to mention a few, were spotted making sales. That was not the trend few days ago.
Other reports suggested that the trend was the same in other markets in the city such Bantama, Asafo, Atonsu, Tafo, Atasemanso, Abuakwa and other markets.
Most of the traders said business was very dull few weeks ago and they were extremely happy that the yuletide season has helped to change the trend.
According to them, they wish the recent bumper sales would be maintained in the city, at least, to the end of the year so that they could make more profit.
In a related development, traffic flow in Kumasi has suddenly become unusually slow and just as the bumper sales, the Christmas season has been cited as the cause.
Due to the Christmas season, a number of people, mainly visitors, have flooded the city to shop for the Yuletide and this has led to traffic flow in the city being impeded.
