The Zango chief in Kumasi has apologised on the assault and damage inflicted on two GHOne TV journalists on Friday, July 19 and 20, 2018.
The journalists were part of those covering the demonstration of the Zango youth who registered their displeasure on the killing of seven people including five Zango youth by the police.
One of the victims, Reynold Dadzie who was subjected to severe beatings by irate Asawase Zongo youth, revealed that he was nearly burnt alive but for a timely intervention of one of the demonstrators.
According to him, while he was being beaten others suggested they set him on fire until one of them mustered courage and disagreed with such a heinous proposition.
Reynold disclosed that the youth were not happy with him recording their standoff with the police as some of them claimed it was meant to serve as evidence to arrested and throw them behind bars.
But Zango chief in a statement has condemned the attack and rendered an apology to the victims and all reporters “who might have suffered some inconvenience during the violent protests”.
